November 28, 2016, 4:09 pm — He Decides Not To Give A Statement, Prosecutors Get The Case

Update. Just talked to the prosecutor’s office. [rapist’s name] decided not to give a statement. They asked me to come in to talk about it. I’m hoping that they wouldn’t have me take a day off just to be told we can’t move forward. I’m hoping I have some say in the matter. They said he’d be treated as a juvenile. That’s so frustrating. That’s the worst part right now even though I’ve known it all along. I feel like if the age of consent is 16 that should be the age one can be treated as an adult when committing these crimes [note: in New Jersey with crimes like this there is the potential of waiving a juvenile defendant to adult court]. It sucks. It really does. But so far I’ve been treated very nicely and respectfully by everyone and that is nice. I guess this is as good as I could feel.
